Question & Answer: TSPLOST Johns Creek Update: What is the status?
The voters of Fulton County, excluding the City of Atlanta, voted in the affirmative for a Transportation Special Local Option Sales Tax (TSPLOST) on November 8, 2016. The TSPLOST tax began collection in April 2017.
The City of Johns Creek (City) has collected approximately $37 million. It has expended approximately $3 million as of July 31, 2019. The City currently has 11 active TSPLOST projects. These initial stages involve a tremendous amount of time but result in minimal amounts of dollars spent. The large amounts of spending will be incurred when cash is spent for the right of way property purchases and the actual construction.
Finally, if you have any questions, please let me know.
JCP Topic Notes:
Fulton County has launched a website that keeps an updated status of all the Johns Creek projects as well all the others in Fulton County. Here is the Website link for status to all these TSPLOST Projects.
Finally, there is a lot of money to spend with TSPLOST tax dollars. Johns Creek is the largest recipient budgeted. TSPLOST has been a contentious and frustrating experience for Residents. Since the vote in 2016, much time has been spent getting details. On what problems the "For-Profit Outsourced" Government employees trying to solve and with what solutions. Very little debate and documentation on what is best and why.
