Hundreds of citizens who showed up in protest were relieved with City Council's Special Hearing on June 30th, 2014 voting to deny the proposed 420 Foot Super Tower near Medlock Bridge Rd & State Bridge Rd.

Neighboring subdivisions of St Ives Country Club and Medlock Bridge were concerned an industrial and enormous structure would permanently be an eyesore and consequently reduce property values. Additional concerns of high-intensity strobe lights in view 24/7 would have diminished the night sky.

The Mayor and City Council listen respectfully to all the citizens' concerns. He subsequently agreed with their constituents that this was not the best plan or location.

The council unanimously decided to keep the Fulton County Public Safety Communication equipment at its current location. Adjacent to the Jones Bridge Water Tower. To meet the need for better coverage in the city's northeast corner, City Council agreed to erect a second tower there.

According to Mayor Mike Bodker, approximately 5 locations have been identified from Tech Park to Shakerag, up to McGinnis Ferry Rd. A new consultant is conducting propagation studies to see which sites give the best coverage. Tower height has not been established.

The purpose of the towers is for placement of the antennas & microwave dishes to send and receive voice communications for fire, police and emergency personnel.

It is unknown what the city will do with the land it purchased adjacent to Johns Creek HS, for the Super Tower site.
