The Mount Pisgah Patriots varsity football team was defeated by Calvary Day 35-21 on Friday night in the GHSA playoffs. The loss ended the Patriots season in a disappointing fashion. The Patriots finished the year 9-3 overall and reached the second round of the playoffs for the second consecutive season.

Calvary Day started the game by marching straight down the field scoring a touchdown on a 19 yard pass. They then extended the lead to 14-0 by scoring on a 46 yard run by Robert Heyward. After Pisgah quarterback Aaron Winchester threw an interception in the end zone, Calvary Day scored again to take a 21-0 lead.

The Patriots drove down the field right before halftime, with Winchester hitting Nicky Piccapietra for a 15 yard touchdown pass on the final play of the half to give Pisgah life. In the third quarter Calvary Day put the game away with two more touchdown runs by Heyward to give Calvary Day a 35-7 lead. The Patriots would score twice on a seven yard Winchester pass to Ben Miller and a one yard run by Winchester, but it was too late to do much good.

Winchester was 20-of-39 on the night, for 185 yards and two passing touchdowns. The senior ran for 74 yards and a score as well. Piccapietra had 77 all-purpose yards and a score, while Miller had 70 all-purpose yards and a score as well. Defensively Blake Smith led the Patriots with eight total tackles, and Jacob Greene added seven tackles and an interception.
