The Georgia Record was relaunched in June of 2021 and has been extremely successful fighting corruption in the state named after King George of England. The original paper was started in 1899 and published into the early 20th century. In 2020, CDM (Creative Destruction Media) acquired Johns Creek Post and brought back The Georgia Record to better represent the state rather than just Johns Creek News.

Fighting Islamic extremism around the world while importing it here: that is our current strategy. We send America's bravest overseas to conduct war, losing so many forever. Meanwhile, we are bringing in hundreds and thousands of Muslims from the Middle East, a majority of them young men of military age.

The administration says that the refugees are vetted through an interview process, a process that is supposed to take 18-24 mos. Instead, refugee vetting is moving like clockwork because the resettlement program has been fast-tracked.

A poll published in November 2014 by the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies found that 13% of Syrian refugees have positive feelings towards the Islamic State terrorist group. Two-thirds of Muslims in the countries from which we are accepting refugees believe that sharia should be the governing law. And although some find it abhorrent that there would be any kind of religious test keeping out Muslims, there seems a distinct bias against Christian refugees who actually are targets because of their faith.

The estimated cost to resettle the average, single Middle Eastern refugee in the US is $64k for the first five years according to the Center for Immigration Studies. According to Forbes, the war on terror has cost the US over $1.7 trillion through 2015. And you know what, I would not mind paying that - if we were serious about winning and protecting our home. I could understand the sacrifices of so many fine soldiers if we weren't digging one hole just to fill another.

But Johns Creek, do not despair. There is a real possibility that once here, the new refugees will not stay. Once they arrive in the US, they are free to move around the country like any other legal resident.

    Editor

Point of clarification - we do not know where the Refugees will come from.

    Anonymous

AS EXISTING RESIDENTS, DO WE HAVE A CHOICE ON WHO CAN COME HERE? MAYBE HAVE OUR OWN VETTING?

    John Bradberry

We have a choice on who gets to come here - as American citizens.

    Phillip

Duh...they probably aren't coming from Canada, Norway, Sweden, Australia, New Zeeland!

    Phil Saylor

To the Editor? The language they speak may give you a clue as to where they are from. Eay?

    Phil Saylor

John is right about refugee situation. Dr. Ben Carson said it correctly: If the Islamic terrorist did not insert terrorist in the refugee program they would be guilty of terrorist malpractice. Where does the money come from in the first place that is given to the city to take care of the refugees? Answer: Our tax dollars. Talk about malpractice!

This is crazy! What about our safety?

OUR SAFETY??? THAT WILL BE AN AFTERTHOUGHT!

Are all residents of John's Creek this xenophobic? You all do realize the vast number of affluent south-Asians that live in the community might be reading this, right? And there is no "fast-trac" for refugees - everyone's processed with the same 15-24 month timeline.

    Judith

What does the vast number of affluent south Asians here in Johns Creek have to do with "refugees"?

BTW, why doesn't Saudi or UAE or other wealthy Muslim countries take in Syrians, instead of Johns Creek Ga?

    Anonymous

Because it shows the inherent distrust of any and all minorities in John's Creek. All this blog talks about is the "spread" of minority influence in the area. It's pretty cleverly veiled as "wrong" city ordinance decisions and the desire to keep JC free of any and all local decisions that might allow a more ethical distribution of social classes. I mean, read the comments on any blogs on this page - it's quite obvious the race factor here looms large.

    Anonymous

What does wanting to protect your community and family have to do with race?

    Your Mom

You didn't answer Judith's questions, why not?

Why do liberals always name call? So far you're up to three: xenophobic, unethical, and racist. You still have a few to go.

    Bless your heart!

    Phillip

Idiot. It's got nothing to do with race or color. I don't like and don't want a mass of people moving into the area who don't speak English and don't try to learn, don't know how to drive, only shop at "their" ethnic stores, don't smile and say "hi" and otherwise make zero effort to assimilate and become part of the community.

    Judith

Ethical distribution of social classes? What does that mean?

I suggest that YOU take in refugees, and YOU live next to an apt building that have ten people living in a two bedroom apartment.

We worked very hard for what we have. We saved our money and were frugal and are now able to afford a very nice house in a very nice neighborhood.

You want to bring urban problems into one of the safest small cities in Georgia?

    EJ Moosa

You really have to dive in and read the Atlanta Regional Commission's report and plans.

Non elected officials are sitting around deciding what each community should look like and the values they reflect.

Every page is a gem of social engineering. Have you even heard of these public/private partnerships that are redesigning your communities?

"ARC works closely with local governments to assist them with planning and with implementing their plans in a way that benefits not only local residents, but the entire region. This is done through grants like the LCI program, public/private partnerships like the Transformation Alliance and the Atlanta Aerotropolis Alliance, and free programs like Community Choices."

    Here's another gem:

ADDRESSING REGIONAL POVERTY AND EQUITY ISSUES

The number of people living in poverty in metro Atlanta’s suburbs is growing at one of the fastest rates in the nation. This is having a profound impact on how local governments provide a range of services in the region, from education to affordable housing. Many suburban areas aren’t prepared to meet the needs of this growing population.

ARC, along with elected officials, nonprofit organizations and community leaders, have come together to address issues of poverty and equity across the Atlanta region. The goal of this collaborative effort is to influence policy decisions in a way that increases access to affordable housing, transportation and, ultimately, economic opportunities.

I couldn't agree more regarding the true mission of this blog...cleverly veiled as providing a community service by keeping residents informed of City Council activities, its true purpose seems, to me, to be a forum for racism and class warfare. This article is a perfect case in point...very short and concise, with just enough detail to stir the pot, then step back and let the haters' comments take on a life of their own. Blogger appears to be completely unbiased because blogger isn't the one who is actually saying these hateful things, but I think blogger's agenda is abundantly clear. And, P.S., I'm not a fan of the Syrian refugee program because I do believe we are opening the floodgates for terrorists...but that's not a Johns Creek thing, that's an America thing. And if I think Obama is a complete failure, am I a racist?

    Editor

We publish as much information as we know.

Refugees coming to Johns Creek, is news of interest to us and our readers, it may not be to you.
What is so hateful? Please be specific.

    Suzi Krizan

Huh? A blog serves two functions:
1.) to inform people so that they can make rational decisions!
2.) To let people express their opinions...First Amendment Right, ya know!

    Wally

That's utter nonsense. Johns Creek is the most integrated city in North Fulton.

    John Bradberry

Anonymous, this is John Bradberry. To be clear, I and others like me are not xenophobic. Just because someone questions or is opposed to someone different from outside our country does not mean that they are afraid of them. What is the definition of being open-minded?Do you say that I have to think that any and every person from any and every group, regardless of value system, should be brought here at the taxpayers' expense, and in an unlimited and uncontrolled number? I don't want to pursue open-mindedness to the point that I lose my common sense and develop a permanent hole in my head.

I enjoy meeting people from all over the world and learning more about their culture. If they are immigrants to our country, I have the reasonable expectation that they have an equal desire to learn about America. Teddy Roosevelt said it best, "We should insist that if the immigrant who comes here does in good faith become anAmerican and assimilates himself to us he shall be treated on an exact equality with every one else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed or birth-place or origin.

But this is predicated upon the man’s becoming in every facet an American and nothing but an American. If he tries to keep segregated with men of his own origin and separated from the rest of America, then he isn’t doing his part as an American. There can be no divided allegiance here. . . We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language, for we intend to see that the crucible turns our people out as Americans, of American nationality, and not as dwellers in a polyglot boarding-house; and we have room for but one soul loyalty, and that is loyalty to the American people.

Last weekend, I got to go a celebration for Tom Feng. He is our very own Olympic athlete from right here in Johns Creek. We all sang the National Anthem - the majority there were Chinese speakers - and they sang with great pride. Many different backgrounds but just one song.

Somehow it has become fashionable in this country to idolize every alternative off the beaten path. There is a huge difference between a society of diverse backgrounds and a society of diverse loyalties.

    Wally

Don't waste your breath, Mr. Bradberry. These folks want a borderless world where people can come as go as they please, and are entitled to the infrastructure that you and your predecessors have been contributing to for decades on end, without having to contribute anything for that entitlement.

The plan is to bankrupt America. And it is working.

It has nothing to do with anyone being racist. But that term has been used to control the silent majority for quite some time, stifling the real conversation.

That's how the game is played.

Keep letting in all the Muslims in and then John Creek can have a Muslim enclave like the French. We will then provide a breeding ground for our own terrorists. Also a perfect place to hide.

    Anonymous

Yeah, that's right. keep importing muslims and let them use the city of Johns Creek as their nest to breed...then they will build up their mosque in JC and..... what is the next? aim an AK47 at us and let us memorize Quran? What a wonderful thing to have...thank you all who decided to have them here...

    You racist rednecks!!

    Your Mom

    Willfully ignorant!!

    C.

Anyone reach out to the baptist church to sway them differently in helping these migrants? It sounds like they the facilitator in this.

With the rampant rezoning we have only the mayor to blame. He loves apartments and eagerly approves them.

if we didnt have them, we would be less likely to get these refugeees. They certainly aint moving into the prestigious neighborhoods.

Also with our good natured citizens, helping the less fortunate creates the perfect storm for this scene.

ICE, your comments above I can definitely align myself with, especially when you said it has more to do with a drain on resources. Only if everyone commenting here had those intentions in mind. Check out the other comments and see whether they fit the bill for ACTUAL concern about resources or just plain do not want poor people, minorities, or refugees around.

Outside of ICE, ya'll have some cold, stone rocks in place of your hearts.

Wow! the comments listed here unbelievable.
We have all worked very hard to be here and the reason we want to be here is because We have made the community what it is. A lovely, well kept area. One of the most livable in the country.
I take offense to our government spending our hard earned tax dollars to bring people here and put them in areas that: 1. they can't afford without my government assistance, my tax dollars, 2. they don't speak the language and 3. because they are from a different culture they do not seem to want to blend into the "American" culture because if they did they would be more eager to become American and adapt to our way of life. In dress, language and how we treat our property. They love the neighborhoods and the pretty houses but they do not keep them up to our American standards. You do not have to be a millionaire to cut your grass and keep your house neat !!!
If we wanted to live next these types we would move there, but No we all wanted something better for our families so we struggled to be here.
Call me cold hearted if you like but I earned what I have and my way of life.

We can just kiss Johns Creek being on of the Nations best places to live!!!!!
