Is the number one cancer killer of women and has one of the lowest five-year survival rates of all cancer types at 17.7 percent. More than half of the 33 million Americans living with chronic lung disease are women. Not only are women disproportionately affected by lung disease, but they also influence more than 80 percent of the healthcare decisions for their families. By educating women, the American Lung Association will expand its impact and increase the likelihood that women will not only make healthy decisions for themselves. And also for their families—including the men, women and children that they love.
Deborah Spector and Vickie Beckler, the Resilience in Healthcare recipient. Spector, a lung cancer survivor hopes to inspire and help others through education and shared knowledge. Beckler has dedicated her life work to increasing lung cancer screenings and to change the perception that lung cancer is a smoker’s disease. The Resilience in Healthcare Award is a nominated honor in which a healthcare professional that has dedicated their life passion to lung cancer and lung disease is honored.
The Power of Breath Women’s Fashion Luncheon Leading Ladies are an elite group of women who have been nominated by their peers and have accepted the challenge to collectively raise $15,000.00 for lung health.
