Democrats in Southwest Georgia are apparently mobilizing support in an attempt to push Jeremy Hunt across the finish line in the hotly contested GA-02 runoff election on Tuesday.

Hunt, a Yale Law School student and Atlanta native who moved to the district in February to run for the seat, has drawn support from Democrats in the district who are working to prop him up as he runs in a tight election against Thomasville native Chris West.

Hunt, who has received the majority of his campaign contributions from outside the district and has the backing of the Washington D.C. establishment, has attempted to make inroads in the district by raising over $500,000 since his campaign launched. Two super PACs with ties to Washington D.C., American Patriots PAC and American Values PAC, have also combined to spend over $1 million supporting Hunt and attacking his opponent, Chris West.

The photos provided to CD Media by a Republican activist in the Albany, Georgia area show a number of Jeremy Hunt signs in predominantly Democrat neighborhoods. The photos show Hunt signs in yards with signs for Democrat Gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams. Additionally, a Democrat “Souls to the Polls” flyer provided to CD Media appears to be urging Democrats in Albany to mobilize in support of Hunt, who is an African-American candidate.

Hunt is running against Thomasville native Chris West in Tuesday’s primary runoff election. The winner will advance to face Democrat incumbent Sanford Bishop in the November general election.

The Georgia Record was relaunched in June of 2021 and has been extremely successful fighting corruption in the state named after King George of England. The original paper was started in 1899 and published into the early 20th century. In 2020, CDM (Creative Destruction Media) acquired Johns Creek Post and brought back The Georgia Record to better represent the state rather than just Johns Creek News.
