During Tuesday evenings meeting, Floyd County commissioners faced backlash over the arrest of Mark Kenneth Swanson earlier in January for running over the three minute time limit for public comments.

In recently several county commissions have been questioned by their constituents for limiting public comments on topics they apparently do not wish to hear.

Mark Kenneth Swanson was charged with misdemeanor disrupting a public meeting after attempting to speak about continued concerns regarding the 2020 elections.

In recent months, commissions have implemented, or tightened, public comment rules in what some call an effort to avoid having inconvenient topics discussed and which then create more questions in the public.

Others question if these Boards in fact have the authority to limit free speech as the Georgia Constitution (as well as the U.S. Constitution) guarantees the right of free speech along with language defining laws and rules in violation of the Constitution as void.

Perhaps its no surprise that in Tuesdays comments, Rome resident, Norma Reboredo, drew parallels with her parents experiences in Cuba which caused them to leave that country for America.

"...arrest of Mark Kenneth Swanson earlier in January for running over the three minute time limit for public comments."

Has the same treatment been given to outside company shills that the board has asked to come and speak. My guess is "No". Those supporting the board and their policies are given endless minutes of time, running down the clock for the taxpayer citizens to have their say of a few minutes. This is known as Delphi Technique. It's a game they play upon the people when they know the citizens will rise up, show up, and voice their opposition to said policies. They don't care about what you have to say; hence, the implementation of the '3-minute' rule. Ever ask why they put that into place? These men and women of the board are voted (most likely illegally) into their positions because of higher ups who are actually running the meeting to get 'their' agenda accomplished.

Ever have the 'League Of Women's Voters' in your town putting on an event where the runners up for board positions can be questioned? Ever wonder why your questions were never asked? Because the minute you are handed an index card to fill out your question you can be sure it will not make it to the candidates. The LOWV will decide which questions will be deemed appropriate, and those questions are the 'feel good' ones, not the hard questions. You never get an honest read on what the candidates can do for you if elected. This is all a game, a show that they care for you and will work for you. They don't! They work for another.

Let Board show their TRUE agenda. The People are waking up to this BS behavior. Did y’all notice how the elites (& Kemp). Weren’t able to walk down the street in Davos? “They will not be able to show their face in public”. Keep it up tyrants. The people will not put up with this treatment once it is exposed.
