During Georgia's last legislative session, several Georgia House members proposed a bill to provide Prison Sentences for those found to be posting memes and other information deemed "deep fakes."

Click below for one of our articles on the topic:

Never mind that the term "deep fakes" has no single definition. Never mind that we now know that many parts of the U.S. Government have been colluding with online search engines, internet providers and social media platforms to squelch information and topics they don't want shared.

The bill was named HB 986. Who proposed such a bill? Sponsors included Brad Thomas (R-Cherokee County) and Todd Jones (R-Forsyth County) and others weighed in with support and votes as the bill was considered. (Kennedy, Still, et al.)

Ultimately HB 986 did not pass. But is that the end of the story?

Why bring this up now? Because going forward it will be our responsibility to remember who our "legislators" really are when next they put on a big smile and say they want to put something in place to "protect" us.

Now that many Georgian's have become active in calling out mal-decisions on the part of our elected officials it falls to us to maintain that posture, reviewing, questioning and challenging bad decisions, bad ills and bad leaders as they are identified.

Today we are little more that a month and a half away from the next legislative session in Georgia.

We suspect there will be continued revelations regarding our "officials" as we go forward. Some which may cause questions about individuals, some which may cause questions about groups.

The Georgia Record will continue to supply the facts we believe Georgian's need to know in order to accurately judge the intentions and actions of those we "trust" to lead the State.

As always we invite citizens from across Georgia to share their information and findings in an effort to uncover and highlight such facts.

Trump won the election and the work continues......

The Georgia Record was relaunched in June of 2021 and has been extremely successful fighting corruption in the state named after King George of England. The original paper was started in 1899 and published into the early 20th century. In 2020, CDM (Creative Destruction Media) acquired Johns Creek Post and brought back The Georgia Record to better represent the state rather than just Johns Creek News.
