One of John’s Creek’s own, Hunter Grant Doster, graduated Saturday, April 18th, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Engineering from The United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) located in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Hunter is the son of Don and Lenore Doster and grew up in John’s Creek, living in the Chartwell Community. Hunter attended Northwood Elementary, Hillside Elementary, Haynes Bridge Middle and Centennial High School. Hunter received his Appointment to USAFA in the Spring of 2016. Hunter’s dedication over the last four years at USAFA is measured by the honorable distinctions and many memories he’s proudly carrying into his post graduate future. He began his tenure with a bang, as Hunter and the rest of the USAFA Swim Team won the Western Athletic Conference Championship his four-degree (Freshman) year. That summer, Hunter flew gliders and completed survival training. During Hunter’s three-degree (Sophomore) year, he worked as a support clerk and personal mentor for the freshman in Cadet Squadron 5, the “Wolf Pack.” Outside of his squad, he led worship in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), the God Chasers (GCs), and the New Life Church Military Ministry. The following summer, Hunter trained at Ellsworth AFB Rapid City, SD with the B-1 Bomber. He then returned to USAFA to train Basic Cadets in the class of 2022. His two-degree (Junior) year, he worked as Support NCO and element leader for Cadet Squadron 31, the “Grimm Reapers.” The summer before firstie (Senior) year, he flew the T-53A Trainer at the USAFA airfield in June and served as A-Staff commander for 1st BCT (Basic Cadet Training), leading a team of 50+ cadets responsible for all personnel, logistics, operations, technology, and main events for 1st BCT. In his last year, Hunter was the Support Officer for his squad where he organized many engaging activities, football tailgates, award ceremonies and other functions. A Computer Engineering Major, Hunter managed to not only walk away with professional distinction, but with academic distinction as well, having made the Dean’s List every semester at USAFA, and graduating as one of eight computer engineers in his class. As for Hunter’s next assignments, he will be headed to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. There, he will attend the Air Force Institute of Technology, pursuing a Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering as a Second Lieutenant.

Hunter’s family and friends could not be prouder of his commitment, hard work and achievement! They know his future is bright and congratulate him and the rest of the USAFA Class of 2020!
